Halal Food System:

Halal is an Arabic word, which means “permitted” or “lawful”. Halal food requires an extensive process to maintain its
lawfulness and healthiness.

The Halal certificate applies for food items including meat, flour, dairy, sweet products, rice, macaroni, and cosmetic
items. Restaurants, Hotels and food product industries are eligible to apply to get halal certificate. Initially, a company
gets Halal Certificate for one year. After the first year, certificate needs to be renewed in every two

The Halal system considers the following areas:

  • Halal raw materials
  • Halal product manufacturing processes, facilities including manpower
  • Original sources of substances
  • Process approach for raw materials in the production line
  • Conformity of products, designated label information of all raw materials
  • Laboratory analysis (if necessary).

HACCP system:

Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a science-based management system in which
food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.

Safety is enhanced by a proactive approach of continuous monitoring of food safety controls and
documentation of results and corrective actions. This monitoring takes place in “real time” rather than a reactive, afterthe-fact approach

HACCP places more ownership of the responsibility on the food processor to identify and control hazards and to document the effectiveness of the system. In addition, it requires constant verification that the system is working.

ISO 9001 Quality Management System:

ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family that can be
certified to. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus,
the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. It can be used by
any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity.
ISO 9001: 2008 is implemented by over one million companies and
organizations in over 170 countries.

Using ISO 9001:2008 helps ensure that customers get consistent,
good quality products and services, which in turn brings many
business benefits.

Certification to ISO 9001:2008 – Checking that the system works is
a vital part of ISO 9001:2008. An organization must perform
internal audits to check how its quality management system is

ISO 14001 Environmental Management System:

ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for an environmental
management system to enable an organization to develop and
implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal
requirements and other requirements to which the organization
subscribes, and information about significant environmental
aspects. It applies to those environmental aspects that the organization identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence. It does not itself state specific environmental performance criteria

ISO 14001:2004 is applicable to any organization that wishes to establish, implement, maintain and improve an
environmental management system, to assure itself of conformity with its stated environmental policy, and to
demonstrate conformity with ISO 14001:2004 by

  1. Making a self-determination and self-declaration, or
  2. Seeking confirmation of its conformance by parties having an interest in the organization, such as customers, or
  3. Seeking confirmation of its self-declaration by a party external to the organization, or
  4. Seeking certification/registration of its environmental management system by an external organization.

All the requirements in ISO 14001:2004 are intended to be incorporated into any environmental management system.
The extent of the application will depend on factors such as the environmental policy of the organization, the nature of
its activities, products and services and the location where and the conditions in which it functions.
